This post is dedicated to my idea development, which is mostly documented through my sketchbook with usage of mind maps and thumbnails. After each image posted I have explained what I have posted and why I did it, in regards to idea development. However, my idea development was drastically altered after I was given feedback
Idea Mind-Map

This mind map allowed me to brainstorm different ideas and get the ball rolling – it also acted as a placement and visible mark on where I was at in the project. It is a perfect way to begin a project as it is easily referred back to.

These are some of the ideas that I was interested in going with, it helped me elaborate further on base-level ideas and determine the longevity and depth of the idea. I tried my best to think outside of the box and was considering experimenting with a Live Art project, however I wanted my piece to relate to something that I would be interested in making my career path, which is why I leaned towards doing a project on motion graphics.
Concept/Context Ideas

As I have studied French language and also culture for a couple of years in A-Levels, it is a subject that I am particularly interested in, especially the effect that France has on its suburbs and the film La Haine. I chose to go with the idea of an Infograph because I knew that I could make it a motion graphic, too. I just had to decide whether I wanted to go with a Game Of Thrones Infograph or one on France and the French riots.
I decided to go with the French riots because I felt that it was more realistic thus being more interesting to me.
Scrapped Info-graphic ideas
All images following were created in relation to my info-graphic idea, which I eventually scrapped.

This is my original idea for how my infograph will look stylistically. The idea, in theory, will travel from the Palais Royal to the Suburbs of Paris whilst informing the viewer on the riots following the French Revolutions – as well as pushing across this idea that the French Revolution has enforced this mentality of kicking off when the government do something that the French people don’t like.

“Short thumbnails using symbols/outlines rather than buildings.
It begins with the Palais Royal because that is where it all began with the French Revolution.”
These thumbnails helped me decide the placement of the riots/revolutions in relation to the motion graphic. Time wise and visually.

I attempted to draw the Eiffel Tower in different styles to get my mental visions onto the paper. I experimented with picking apart the tower to its base shape, a triangle.

This is at the point where I really began experimenting with symbols and outlines rather than detailed graphics of the French monuments.
