This research was conducted before my idea completely changed after my mid-project tutorial.
Book: Information Graphics – Innovative solutions in contemporary design by Peter Wildbur and Michael Burke. 1st Edition, H&Y Printing Ltd.
“Information design has the efficient communication of information as its primary task.” – the context that I use must be accurate and unbiased as it is not a marketing design.
Information can be displayed in many ways; heat maps (used in brain scans) colour-coded, upside down map.
I was tempted to use the upside down map style however I felt that it would serve no purpose so I decided against it.
This book put it in my head that the accuracy of the information and the efficiency of communication is the key point to my Final Major Project, whilst also making it interesting to look at to keep the audience interested.
Infographics: Before the Web
Infographics date way back to around 32000 years predating the web – shown through cave paintings. The cave paintings tell stories and inform on the lives that they lived – using images. They are visual representations of data.

Egyptian hieroglyphics are another form of infographics as they tell stories of life, work and religion using images. Whilst I was tempted to tell a story using just images, I feel that it is not the most efficient way to inform on the French Revolution and the riots in France.
